POPI Act

This is a quick, short important post-. The POPI act comes into full force for South Africans on the 1 July 2021. If you are an online seller and have an e-commerce website or just collecting email addresses (whether you use them or not) you risk hefty fines if you are not POPI compliant. The act also applies to businesses seeing on premise customers/clients that you collect personal information during your engagement. The good news is that it is not that hard to be compliant.

In short, you will need a Privacy Policy page (updated) and add a privacy policy consent check box to every form and page that collects personal information.

I will create a ready to use template that will be POPI compliant. You will need to add in your information to the template and add the content to your website. Depending on your website and how you collecting user information, we will have to tweak the checkout pages and or popups.
