SEO and Generative Engine Optimisation

Your business exists. Your customers just can't find it.

Google has always been the first place people look. Now AI tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews are answering questions before anyone clicks a link. We get you in front of both.

Two searches. One strategy.

Traditional SEO gets your pages ranking on Google. Generative Engine Optimisation gets your business cited by AI tools when they answer questions your customers are asking. The two work together. Content that’s well-structured, authoritative and clearly written ranks better on Google and gets picked up by AI tools more often. We do both in the same process so you’re not paying twice for the same outcome.

The Problem

What We Do

Google processes roughly 8.5 billion searches a day. AI tools like ChatGPT now handle hundreds of millions of queries on top of that. The businesses showing up in AI answers today are the ones that will have a head start when AI search becomes the norm. That shift is already happening. Waiting until it’s obvious means you’re already behind.

SEO on its own is still worth doing. Adding GEO on top of it costs almost nothing extra when the content is built right. The businesses we work with that invest in both are showing up in places their competitors haven’t even thought about yet.

Common Concerns

Most clients see meaningful movement in 3 to 6 months, depending on how competitive the keywords are and what state the site is in when we start. We’ll tell you upfront what’s realistic for your specific situation, not give you a vague answer to manage expectations.

When someone asks ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google’s AI Overview a question, the AI pulls its answer from content it finds online. GEO is the process of structuring and writing your content so AI tools are more likely to pull from your site when answering questions relevant to your business. It’s a newer discipline but the underlying principle is the same as SEO: be the most useful, clearly written, well-structured source on your topic.

If you’re starting from scratch, SEO comes first. You need Google to trust your site before AI tools will cite it. But if your SEO is already in reasonable shape, adding GEO optimisation to your content is a relatively small additional step with a potentially big upside. We’ll advise on what makes sense for where you are.

That’s common. A lot of SEO work looks busy but doesn’t move rankings because it focuses on the wrong things. We start with the audit so we can show you exactly what’s holding your site back before we do anything else.

They can, over time, in competitive niches. SEO is not a once-off job. What we build is durable, but search is competitive and the sites that stay consistent tend to hold their ground better than those that stop and start.
