Why WooCommerce and not Shopify?
Shopify is a hosted platform, which means you rent your store. Monthly fees, transaction fees on top of payment gateway fees and limited control over your own data. WooCommerce is self-hosted and open source. You own the store, the code and the customer data. For most South African businesses, especially once you factor in Shopify’s pricing in rands, WooCommerce works out significantly cheaper over three to five years and gives you far more flexibility.
Can you migrate my existing store to WooCommerce?
Yes. We’ve migrated stores from Shopify, Wix, Ecwid and other platforms. Products, customer data, order history and SEO URLs can all be moved across with the right process. We’ll assess your current store and tell you exactly what’s transferable before we start.
How many products can the store handle?
WooCommerce scales to thousands of products with the right hosting and build. We’ll scope the hosting and architecture based on your catalogue size so the store stays fast as it grows, not just at launch.
What payment gateways do you support?
We work primarily with PayFast and Peach Payments for South African stores, both of which support EFT, credit card and instant payment options. If you need a different gateway we’ll let you know upfront whether it’s supported and what the integration involves.
Do you offer ongoing maintenance after launch?
Yes, and we recommend it. An e-commerce store needs regular plugin updates, security monitoring, performance checks and occasional fixes as WooCommerce and payment gateways release updates. We offer monthly maintenance retainers that keep the store healthy so you’re not dealing with a broken checkout on a Friday evening because something updated overnight.
